Scott,

There is a lot of ways to skin a cat. I have put motors in just about
every way
in the world over the years. Here are a couple of suggestions from a old
guy
who has learned to do everything by myself without help.

First, if you can get good help dropping in a motor, it makes life
easier.

A couple people have recommended putting the trans in last, most guys
do it this way, but I have found over the years to do it different. You
can
put the whole motor and trans in as a unit, if you have a good picker,
and
an way to change the angle on the motor, however, you will always hit or
scratch something with this method.

I would for sure have the steering box in the car before I put the motor
in.

I like to mount the trans first. Easy to do with the motor out. Then
dropping
the motor in is cake. If it is an automatic it is the easiest way to go.
This way
the motor just drops straight in on the mounts, you can do this by
yourself.
when the motor is against the trans, just grab it with a couple of the
top bolts,
and later slide the torque converter up the flex plate and bolt her on.
This is way easier than putting the trans in later, especially if your
up on jack
stands in the garage. It is also the easies way to put a motor in if you
are
installing the headers at the same time. You can have the headers laying
in
the car, and by being very careful, and going slow, get her all bolted
up at
one time.

Get er Done.

I JUST WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THE
INFO I HAVE BEEN RECIEVING OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS TO HELP ME ALONG WITH
MY PROJECT. I AM REACHING THE POINT WHERE I AM JUST ABOUT READY TO DROP
IN THE MAX WEDGE AND TRANNY. I NEED SOME TIPS AS TO WHAT'S THE BEST WAY
TO DO THIS. WHAT DO I NEED TO HAVE IN BEFORE I DO IT, AND WHAT SHOULD I
WAIT TO PUT ON UNTIL AFTER IT IS IN. I HAVE THE SUSPENSION IN AND THE 4
WHEELS ON THE GROUND. HOOD IS OFF. DO IBOLT TRANNY & MOTOR AND ANGLE IN?
PUT IN SEPARATE? SHOULD STEERING BOX GO IN FIRST? FACTORY HEADERS IN
BEFORE ENGINE? QUESTIONS OF THIS SORT IS WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR.

THANKS AGAIN,
SCOTT
