       I don't think so...the original wasn't rubber it was like a
compressed felt and it was certainly less than a 1/4" in thickness probably
closer to 1/8" . I reused mine , all I did was vacuum it to remove the road
dust and I reinstalled it.

I bought a gas tank mat for my 1964 Fury, and it was very thick, at least
1/4", rubber.  So thick that I had a devil of a time getting the strap
bolt to go through.  You guys think this is O.K.?
