I think rims up to 17" would be OK if they're newer aftermarket rims.   But 
only if you have decent sidewall height (no rubber band tires) and some BIG  
brakes that require some room inside the rim.  The traditional rims seem to  
only look good in 14 - 15" ranges.  Bigger than that and the centers look  
"stretched out".
