We usually put Torquethrusts, slots, or Cragars on them, as custom wheel selection was VERY limited. That's what we grew up with and usually still like. I HATE big wheels on a vintage car and I would never do that, however, I respect someone else's attempt to make their car stand out from everyone else's. If we all had the same wheels, a lot of cars would look very similar. I have added a few 70's touches to my 64 Polara such as 69 Roadrunner exhaust tips, pistol grip shifter, and reverse indicator dash light. Some would say those items don't look right on a 64, but I like the blend and afterall, I'm doing the car for me and no one else. Vive la difference, right?
