The Formula S was a package that consisted of :
273-cid V8, 4-bbl carb
tachometer
heavy-duty torsion bars
heavy-duty leaf springs
firm ride shock absorbers
sway bar
wide 14" steel rims
6.95x14" Goodyear Blue Streak wide oval tires
simulated bolt-on wheel covers
"Formula S" medallion on the front fenders ahead of the wheelwell
rally stripes

To determine if the car came with the Formula S package, check the data tag,
There should be a "2" under the "C" on the row of uppercase letters

My younger brother came across in his local Trader mag a 65 Barracuda.
According to the owner it's supposed to be a Formula S. It does not run and
would need pretty much a complete resto; however the price is pretty decent
considering the condition. I'm not that familiar with the Formula S but do
know it would have the special valve covers, 4 barrel carb, chrome air
cleaner, and dual point distributor (it doesn't have a dual point but a
single point distributor. Would anyone know what else we should be looking
for - Formula S only options, fender tag info, etc. Thanks!
Don
