I recently had a problem on a 65 Dart with a Torqueflight tranny. The drive shaft coming out of the transmission was loose and when driving at certain speeds there was a lot of vibration. I thought maybe it was a front u-joint problem. I had it taken in to a shop and he replaced some sort of rear transmission seal which he explained was a temporary fix. He is looking for a new ball and trunnion flange I think. Are these still available from parts stores? If not, does anyone know of a source other than a junk yard. Thanks, T2

Some years ago I remember reading an article that told how to convert the
ball and trunion flange on the back of a tranny to a regular u-joint, and having
the benifits of the extra bearing in the tranny to help stabilize the
drivetrain. As I recall they were using the yoke off of the back of a later model
pick-up truck transmission, (possibly off of a 4-wheel drive) which susposedly
had the same spline and nut set-up as our B&T set-ups, does this sound correct?
and if so what years are we talking about
