As 17 year old kid I have to completely agree with Tom here. I happen to
be extremely lucky to have three of these cars and now I'm a 62-65 mopar
freak. But there was this weasly little rich kid at my high school who
must also know what they are, he drives one of those rice burners but he
offered my three grand for my wagon right in the parking lot!! I turning
him down, then the next day someone pored soda down my tank and ruined my
carburetor>.< Never found out who it was...

one of the attractions to the 62-65's is the down to earth owners,
compare to the neighbor who has a 70 cuda rotting outside his
garage, it was a 318 nothing special car in its good day.
he wants 3000, it has no interior, motor, trans, frame is gone,
and not an undented or rusty piece of metal or trim left.
on the other hand almost all of the 62-65 guys i have met will
sell parts for what they are worth not what they saw someone on
ebay or barrett-jackson get.
that being said that roller from california without any rust is always
going to be worth 8k in my book, since there is virtually no body work
to make those cars nice. in minnesota and wisconsin, it is
rare to even find a 3k roller in any condition. even though these cars are
not
getting any cheaper and 3k sounds like a fair price for the 63 post.
when i fixed my 65 satellite up, i ran across several people who gave
me very good deals on their leftover parts and when a local guy bought
a 65, i practically gave him some parts,
last summer i was asking him if he had found any clips for the lower
trim around the windows, he said he had some he would sell for 75 bucks!
(i still have a few parts left, he isn't getting any of them)
if we stick together we will all be able to afford these cars, but if we
start
to think these things are gold, only a few will be able to have them,
that would be the biggest tragedy i can imagine, if i had the chance to
get one of these out of the barn and on the road i would do it purely out
of love for the car.
sorry for the long winded response, but these cars look a lot better going
down the road than taking up space in a building.

Hey gang,
I have been approached with a serious inquiry about buying my "car in
barn" 63 Belvedere 2 door post car. It is an ex-police big block car with
sway bar, dual exhaust, etc. Rolling body, no motor or trans. Original 3
on tree, but has an automatic shifter installed in floor now. The body is
good, but the floor boards have been patched with riveted in tin. (I don't
know how bad they are under the tin, but the car has been off road for
many many years!) I bought it in 92 and put in in my barn. The interior
has been changed, I think it is from a 65? Satellite. (Buckets front,
bench rear with matching door panels.) It was a cop car, and has the
"certified" speedometer, straight drive dashboard w/o push buttons, extra
interior dome light and the holes in roof for light and 1/4 panel for
antenna patched over. The Belvedere chrome trim is all there and in good
shape, I took it off when I bought the car to get the leaves and pine
needles, etc. out to prevent rust. I am thinking about quoting a
figure of $3000. Is this out of line, or about right? I asked about this a
couple years ago, and I remember a list member saying it would be worth
this in his area out west. I am in Virginia, so shipping could be an
issue, but this buyer is local. I have not been trying to sell, but am now
considering it. Any opinions?
Thanks,
Lee Sumpter
