I did a D-I-Y job on my practice piece (picture below).  I cleaned off the old finish using Easy-Off.  Spray can "chrome" using Spaz Stix Mirror Chrome.  Masked and filled with argent.  It is obviously a lot nicer.  Acceptable?  Not show quality, but a lot less expensive.  The contrast is probably pretty close to right, but the "chrome" won't be mistaken for original.  I may try again using the All-Clad chrome.
