The articles basically indicate that the 452's require LESS work (porting and polishing) to reach the big numbers. After the 2.14 intake and 1.81 exhaust valves are installed they recommend VERY LITTLE grinding, etc.
The interesting thing is that Don's book HAS ALL OF THIS IN WRITING...long before the articles were written. The 906's LOSE THIS BATTLE...because of the extensive and detailed PRECISION work required to reach the numbers...
If you have a question...get a book !

Take the time to read the three articles at the link
I sent this AM. It will open your eyes about home
porting without a flow bench. We have some Chevy
guys around here that are always doing their own jobs,
and they always run slower than the professional jobs.

I read somewhere on Moparts that a guy did extensive testing with home porting and his 906 heads outflowed the Edelbrock heads. He didn't do a lot of porting, either. Joe
