I have an M1 single plane for my 340 that I never bolted-on; been running
the Edelbrock LD340 intake (milled the divider). The LD runs so good I am
hesitant to switch for a test; any prognostications if the M1 will make a
noticeable improvement in HP upper rpm or loss of torque?
Specs. on my package for those of you who would like to make input on the
benefits of an M1 single plane vs. the LD:
340 w/stock vavles, 10.5 pistons, 850 TQ, LD 340 intake (obviously),
284/.484 Purple Shaft, 1 5/8
Thorley headers thru 2 1/2" exh., "built" 904 w/low gear set, 10" 3500stall
Cont. conv., 3.91's, 25" tall tires...
Presently turned 12.8 @ 106 thru the muffs on pump gas.
Let me know your thoughts.

i have played around plenty with this one.
i had an M1 on my 450 horse motor, thinking it
would be more streetable, i put the eddy performer
dual plane (is that the rpm?) anyway, made no noticable
difference in low end or high end. (both were out of the box)
(with no port work)
on my current motor, i had a port matched M1,
switched it out for a eddy victor-440, actually slowed it down
by 2 full tenths.
i then cleaned the carb opening, matched the ports, now runs
about 1 tenth quicker than the M1.
the victor 440 took a lot of machining to fit the engine.
i took .125 off one side, .150 off the other side, just to be able to
bolt it on.
the short vote for me is the single plane M1, cost and effort
make this as good or better than any i have tried.
my brother would say team-g no questions asked, i haven't
tried one yet.
