If you have no luck with just a fuel pump replacement or if you just want to be somewhat thorough you may be able to get the sending unit off the gas tank without pulling it (if it is rusted don't try it unless you have another tank identified as the collar are of the tank if rusty can break thru and then you have a leaker). If the metal looks good remove the bayonet collar that retains the sending unit and remove the sender. On the end of the pickup tube is a filter screen. If it is plugged you won't get fuel. By far the most thorough way is to remove the tank, wash it out, still have to change the pickup filter, inspect and or send tank out to radiator shop for repair, install sender in the tank with new gasket and filter and put the tank back in. Th body gas line should be inspected and replaced if necessary as well. Depending on what model the car is Inline Tube (www.inlinetube.com) in Frazier, Mi may have a repro gas line for it or can make one. That is a safety item and their lines are pre-bent and will fit the chassis nicely.

Just went thru this last year with my Polara having dirt in the tank.
Pull the tank line off the pump and crank the motor to see if the pump
is drawing. If it is, you line or tank probably has dirt in it.
