That's what I did last spring.  I went to a spring shop, he put it on a 
lift, weighed that car and checked the original spring ratings.
What I wanted was about an inch and a half of lift but I needed more 
strength.
He fashioned up a set that look OEM with new shackles, bolts, etc.  and I'm 
riding just fine.
I put two good-sized adults in the back seat with me driving, measured the 
clearance before and after and she only drops 1/2".
It worked for me fine.

I am although, having him raise it another 1" for larger tires in June.  I 
already talked to him and he can arch the ones he made me.
It's a truck spring place but all the guys came over and commented when it 
was getting done.  I guess a nice break from the everyday Mack.

Hadn't thought of it.........the springs are original and don't look that 
good, however, looks aren't everything.  I don't think a tweak will do it. 
I think they would have to be re-sprung?????

Have you considered having a good spring shop rebuild/rearch your '64's
original leaf springs? You also have the option of having the shop tweak
them as you see fit this way and it is probably less than buying new.
