Both units usually leak due to holes in the core or where the core attaches to the tanks or frame. A good rad shop can recore the unit for less than the cost of a new one and the result is just as good as, or better, than a new unit. In this day and age of recycling it never ceases to amaze me how many people want to junk parts and buy new when the old one can be rebuilt or refurbished. And, it leaves the dwindling supply of new parts for those owners who have parts that have been damaged to the point where they cannot be rebuilt.
