Re: what's in my trans pan?

I would think that one of those inline Trans filters could clog up pretty quick with this kinda gunk?!
at least that's the reason I'm not bothering with one. (o;

It's normal.
The Mobil 1 is very good fluid.
The material, is material that wears from the clutch pack, along with steel particles from the clutch steels.
Not a tranny out there that doesn't have the same thing in it, with the same level of miles.
Don't worry.

I've seen this before and I usually don't worry about it unless there are metal shavings in it. I think its just dirt from the tranny getting old. But maybe some one else knows better.

Subject: what's in my trans pan?

..while I'm doing stuff under the car I decided to replace the trans pan gasket and filter
for the Torqueflite 727, it's leaking also. So after draining the tranny fluid and pulling the
pan I see a thin layer of grey sludge covering the bottom of the pan? I don't remember
seeing this stuff before? Is this from using Mobil 1 synthetic trans fluid? or is something
bad happening here? The tranny seems to work fine although it could always be better.
any Ideas or is this normal for an old Torqueflite?
thanks for any help here,
