Robert, how do you tell what type of heads you have, and which one is best?

well my "undewrwater 360" I was asking about the other day turned out
to be a good deal for 100 bucks I believe. I just got home with it.
the guy graciously let me pop the heads and the pan, rotate it and
give it a good inspection befor i handed him the 100 bucks, it all
checked out ok to my eyeball. No overbore marks on the pistons
either!
He'd definitely put the thing underwater in his 4x4 , but i could
see no damage, rods looked great, rotated smoothly, just a little
surface frost rust inside on the crank and i will get right on that
as this only happened a few weeks ago I think it should be fine.
So for 100 bucks I got an original bore early thickwall ( 1972) 360
BLOCK And a good set of the 915 j heads . I think thats a decent
deal.
We'll see how those J heads work on my 340, the block can go in the
" someday" pile, maybe one of them-there newfangled 408 strokers!.
