sounds like you already found the problem. The rotor, I've had them do this too. What happened was I put the cap on at a funny angle and it cause it to bend.

Haven't check anything any further. Today was spent welding on a
bracket for a trailer winch on my race trailer. Tomorrow, I will get
back to the distributor. I did look last night at the center of the cap
and it looked new, but...the part on the rotor that extends to that
point on the cap looked bent incorrectly. I'll be checking that first
thing in the morning. While the distributor is out of the car, I am
taking it to the local speed shop for a quick spin on its distributor
machine. I was told by the builder and friend in my car club that the
distributor would have 16 deg built into it (centrifical advance instead
of vacuum advance) and I wanted to check that out now.

Did you check the button in the top inside center of the cap like I
suggested. I had that happen last week on a 440 with a brand new cap.
If
not check rotor.

I am still confused, even with all the great input to date. To recap:
The coil wire to distributor has good fire, but it isn't getting through
to plug wire. I was of the humble opinion, that would be the fault of
the distributor cap or rotor. Maybe I'm just not getting it right.
Those darn MSD's are kind of pricey...hope that isn't the problem.

One curve I didn't throw in earlier so as to not get sidetracked was,
that I didn't drain the fuel cell last fall. I simply added new gas
when I went to start the car. There wasn't much in the fuel cell when I
did that.

I really don't think the quality of the fuel has something to do with no
spark to the plugs and that's why I didn't mention it earlier.

for me MSD and wont run are synonomous. Time for a new box I bet.
reluctors are often chipped even when new. The specs you have been given
are right on. Distance is not real critical except too close is a
disaster.
If it ran last fall and wont go now it isnt a mechanical think like
reluctor pickup gap distance. Probably the box has gone to sleep .
