You said the magic words, "street hemi".

The Maxie was not a street package, it was the epitome of wedge development 
at the time. They were in lightweight packages, big compression, cross ram, and 
very good heads. The street hemi was a detuned counterpart of the race hemi, 
with lower compression, less cam, and inline carburetion. It was also put in a 
regular street automobile. So, yes, the Maxie would outrun a street Hemi.

Now, a cross ram race hemi package was a different story.......
