right , i mean i knew u "watched' by means of the rotor  but what
confuses me is  'direction". Seems if u keep turning the motor one
direction that will maintain tension on the chain,  but turning it back
the other way would  show  the slop in it, correct?? In an ideal 'tight
' setup wouldnt the rotor respond immediately (or almost immediately) to
a change in crank  direction? Mine doesnt, takes a while for the rotor
to start back the other direction, but how much is too much?
   I am starting to think the chain  actually might be my problem with
   my mysterious 273 distributor.
        Geniuses of 62-65 please help,
