Re: Rear Axle Question

Jim, I have a 741 case 8 3/4 on my wagon. I can't get a very good measurement
with the way it sits right now but it's definably closer to 55-5/8" then 57 1/2".
Don't know about your 64 but my 62 wagon has plenty of room to go wider.
I would think the perch to perch measurement would be my concern for ease
of swapping?

Has anyone actually measured the flange-to-flange width on a '64 Fury
(non-Max Wedge)? The "Rear Axle Guide" website
(http://www.autohobbydigest.com/8_75.html) says 55-5/8" (est), and I am
wondering if anyone has real data. My car was originally a poly car
with a 741 case 8 3/4. I could wrestle with my brake drums and measure
it myself, but the assembly is just going to the junkyard, so if I can
avoid some work, I will, given the heat this weekend!

What I am trying to determine is if an A-body setup would bolt-in, given
that it has a 57 1/2" flange-to-flange measurement, and what impact
would that have on the wheelwell, tire clearance, etc.

Thanks in advance for anything you are willing to share.
