I once threw a belt on the freeway and as long as I kept it over 60 it  
stayed within normal temps. The fan was just spinning from the incoming  air. To me 
this indicated the radiator was functioning fine.  If it  overheats in 
traffic, look at the radiator/thermostat first.  worked for me  anyway   Joe
