The International 477.1-cid V8 had the same 3.375" stroke as the 413, but with a 4.5" bore. The other International engine Chrysler used was the 548.7-cid V8 (4.5" bore and 4.32" stroke).. International, however, did not use Chrysler engines. They had a 400.9-cid V8 based on their 477.1-cid block, plus other V8 engines (345, 303, and 265) Bill Vancouver, BC ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Casey" <dcasey@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, September 11, 2005 8:20 PM Subject: Re: '72 413 engine International did use Chrysler big blocks at some point. Read the application list on a Fel-Pro gasket box next time you buy something for a 440. The list will include International 414 CI or some such. 'Spose I shouldnt give away all my secrets, but hey, its something to check out. Friend of mine bought 2 361 military truck engines at an auction. Both had 4 bolt valve covers, sealed distributors (waterproof)and holley carbs with built in govenors. (Max Wegde heads have 4 bolt valve covers) I remember people telling me that those truck engines "must be international engines. Oddly enough, they do look similiar. The distributor is a dead giveaway thought as no other engine has such an angled distributor. I have also seen some truck engines NOT have the rod ends of the crankshaft hollowed out. I have seen this on 318 polys as well, but I dont know if thats the case on all the "truck" engines. this will make for a stronger, but heavier crank. (good for truck engines) This area can be hollowed out, so I am told. Doc.
