Small block casting numbers...numbers gurus help!!!

I know this is outside the scope of the list,but, a friend of mine has a 67 Dart which he bought with,what he thought, was a 273 2bbl engine. Upon checking the engine ID pad it says C318-14 92. The casting number is 2806030-273-7 with a casting date of 1-24-67. Now the casting number  2806030 decodes out to a 318,like the ID pad says,but what's with the "273-7" after the casting number? Does this mean anything? I cant seem to find any info on the "273-7" numbers.

BTW,we removed a valve cover and the engine has adjustable rockers and solid lifters,ala 273.
