Well Jeff, I am not trying to throw a stick into the woods to get you to 
chase it, and there's smarter folks than me here, but here's what I was 
thinking ... when accelerating at cruise load upward past 1500 RPM, 
among other things, you are also relying on vacuum advance (if so 
equipped).  At wide open throttle (where you say there is no issue) it's 
pretty much up to the mechanical advance, given the absence of vacuum.

Did the Jeg's unit come with vacuum advance?  What's manifold vacuum 
reading at 1500 RPM?

Just thoughts ...
