I always spray motorcycle chain lube on everything and then cover with an old sheet. When I am ready to remove the part from storage, I fill my spray gun with kerosene and spray everything down. The chain lube washes off and everything is good to go. If you have carbs to store, dump the fuel and using the fuel inlet, fill the carb bowl(s) with ATF. Actuate the linkage a few times to actuate the accelerator pump(s) and you are good to go. I just took my 1970 six pack setup out of storage (stored in 1973) and after dumping the ATF, the carbs worked just like new.

I have a rebuilt, fresh short block on an engine stand in a garage.
It

It

There is a product that is available, I think, similar to cosmoline. I
work for a company that builds turbines and we use it to preserve
machined parts and whole assemblies inside and out.It is pumped through
the innards just by the lube oil pumps. It is oil soluble and mixes
readily with regular oil to flush out when put in use. It is brushed on
or sprayed depending on the situation. I am currently laid off so I
can't get the name of it now. Maybe someone on the lists knows exactly
what I'm referring to.
