he is probably talking about the '971' pan which is a 73-78 440/400
oil pan.   it is not so common anymore, as they didn't build a lot
of big block b-bodies, which the except being the Corboda ( I think
most were 360's and 400's,  like the Magnums)  it is a 5qt. pan, so
with 1 qt. in the filter, its 6qts. total...  I think this is the one
that is in current production, but I'm not sure.  I didn't try to test
fit it in my 63 330, so I don't know if it'd fit.  the only pan that I
know of being a complete no-go is the late 70's C-body pan, the 933.

if you are budget minded., the 187/699 C-body pans fit and sells for
$10-40 at swap meets.  I had to dimple the front right corner of the
sump, but it was a easy mod and otherwise, fits very well...
