I need to toot my own horn. I just cant believe it. I have been practicing quite a bit and spending a lot of time over at" MetalMeet".com and have managed to rebuild all the rotten rear window trough of my 64 dodge with new metal, lots of spot weld drilling and paper patterns, head scratching and a couple dead ends but i have brought a rear window area around that four weeks ago I thought was hopeless. And it was all done with simple brakes, hammers, shrinking hammers, a huge vise, some slappers and a few home built tools. No english wheels (not yet at least, hee, hee, next on my tool list!). I had to drill out the spot welds for the trunk hinge brackets and temporarily remove the trunk hinges and t-bars to gain access to the area. the bottom trough was swiss cheese and the cancer had completely eaten away the lip the window gasket rides on . this cancer also had eaten away at the passenger side of the rear window area. I have been foto-documenting this whole project and when i figure out how I will link you guys up if u are interested. I have been staring at this rear window for 8 months with a queasy feeling in my stomach "wondering" if i could do it, but doing nothing about it. When i actually began it instantly became much easier and I could 'clearly" see what needed to be done, the fear and worry is worse than the actual undertaking, which I am finding applies to many things in life. I just love these old cars. neal Zimmerman, eugene oregon
