The good news is you can remove the dash and leave the glass intact.
The bad news is you need lots of patience and time.
Akron Don reported success using a "Craftsman 3/8 Saltus wrench (one side is an open end and the other side is a socket on a swivel which is the end you use) and a 45 degree or deep offset 3/8 by 7/16 box wrench."

Is there a trick socket or wrench to remove the bolts (3/8 or 7/16) on top of the dash next to the windshield? It looks like I have to take the Windshield out to get to them. None of my 1/4 sockets and universals will get to them. Or am I missing something that can be done under the dash, but it doesn't look like it!
