Re: Ethonal.

I'm right there with ya Don, saw this a long long time ago, and just been waiting for them to sell the stuff here in WA.

Actually i am going to embrace this ethonal thing. it has 114 plus octane rating i believe even in the E85 format. Everyone is whining how it is slightly down on power and mileage but some of that if not almost all is because we are running low compression to suit the crap fuel we buy at the pumps. I suspect that with E 85 and a little Hot Rod enginuity we can get the old 13 to 1 Max Wedges and such to lap this stuff up in fine tire smoking fashion. Higher compresion ratio means we can run more cam and still have a reasonable idle. More cam with appropriate compression ratio means more power. I am going to start of trying the current max on the stuff and see if I can get the jetting right. if that works out I have a 482 /440 with 12.5s under the bench and i can see that finding a home while I save up for a set of 13.5 to 1s for the 426.
We cant buy the E85 here yet except in Ottawa and Toronto. We have got the Sunoco 94 with 10% ethonal working great, so at least we have started. I know some will disagree but i think we are being handed a gift and just dont realize it. UPI sponsored a 6 cyl altered for a few years that ran on pure ethonal. There was absolutely nothing shabby about its performance.
