OK so it looks like Lokar or Bouchillon. Now my next question is WHY?
WHY are the mopars so sensitive about the kickdowns??
I understand the other brands dont need them but Torqueflites will" 
burn up" with out them.
what does that mean exactly. all I ever hear are vague reasons like 
"you'll burn it up",
not a good enuf answer for Mr. Busybody I want to know what actually 
happens in the tranny
and why the other brands dont need them. Thanks. growing grumpier by

gm and fords for quite a few years  used a vacuum modulator to regulate 
shift points
and pressures

wide open throttle gave a near zero manifold vacuum signal and would 
tell the trans to
shift hard.

some of them also used a lever and linkage for kickdown information.

mopar uses the linkage for both kick down and pressure information.

wthout any linkage the tranny would think it is at idle or a low 
throttle setting......  you might not
hurt anything if you really babied the car but any high power runs could 
hurt something.

when my brother put headers on his car he drove it for about two months 
with the kickdown
lever held towards the rear and he shifted the car manually...didn't 
seem to hurt anything.
probably not the best setup but it got him by.
