I believe the early fender tags have slightly different codes depending on  
what plant they were manufactured at.  For example, an engine code for a  318 
at the St Louis plant didn't necessarily match the 318 code  for another plant. 
 Email me the fender tag info and where the cars  were manufactured and I'll 
give it a try.  I have very little info though,  so no promises.
