Re: Bad day today

Bob,
You are on the right track. An electric fuel pump should end your vapor lock problem, but I hate the noise on the street. The "country cure" that we used on the streets of Detroit when I was a young man, was to use wooden clothes pins that had the spring on them. The spring acted as a heat sink. Vapor lock is actually caused bu fuel perculation. Now that I have given a history lesson, if you put a non conductive (fiber or plastic) spacer under your carb, you will minimize your problems. You also need to make sure that the fuel line is not near any heat source.

Subject: Bad day today

I've heard folks here talk about it, but today it got
me for the first time...and it was a major pita!

MY maxie 440 VAPOR LOCKED and stayed that way for a
while. I have seen posts that blame the Edelbrocks for
the problem, but I saw this only after they were
bought and installed. Soooooo,

Will an electric fuel pump overcome the lock and force
enough fuel into the carbs for ignition? Is there a
country cure for this I don't know about? This was a
major embarassment today 'cause "Ole Dumbass" at the
wheel ran the battery down trying to crank the beast.
I'd like to avoid this happening EVER again if I
can...Help please if you can.
