The dual gate in the GTO's and 442's had small detents in the shifter itself which acted as a ratchet shifter when used in the "his" mode so you couldn't overshift. You had to push the shifter to the right to actually use the detents. I had a 67 GTO before I saw the light and that's how the shifter worked. Jim Ozolins wrote: > > Here's a really dumb question.
