It looks like a skin to glue over an existing pad.

That means making your existing pad level, any cracks that edges are
poking up would have to be leveled, and the crack filled in with
something prior to gluing the new skin down.

The capped pads dont feel like the original, they are a little harder
because you have a skin over a skin.  But they can look really nice if
done right.
