RE: 1963 Borg Warner 4 speed questino

Also, have a look at the motor mounts & tranny mount just to make sure
there's not too much flex going on. There is also a process for aligning
Hurst shifters so the shifter is bang on the money. I don't recall the
whole process, but it involves putting a specific sized drill bit through
all the shifter mechanism and something else to lock it all in place. Might
find the whole process on a website somewhere... Good Luck, Dennis.

Subject: 1963 Borg Warner 4 speed questino

Hello,

I have a 63 Sport Fury with the original Borg Warner T-10 4 speed. I
have a couple of questions:

I had the transmission disassembled and inspected before I put it back
in the car, the shop installed new gaskets and seals and said it looked
great inside and I should not have any problems. I do have a problem,
it jumps out of second gear unless I keep power on. It is not a linkage
adjustment problem.

Is the transmission worth trying to get rebuilt?

Am I able to replace it with an 833 and if so what will I need to change
besides the driveshaft?

If I change to an 833 can I still use the Hurst shifter?

Thanks

Dennis C.
