Todd and all others. Did 65s and earlier have a thermal resistors or as 
my dad called it a thermistor on the firewall. I had a 72 valiant and 
when it went out i had nothing. He told me to disconnect the 2 wires 
going to it and connect them and start the car. Sure enough it worked. 
got me to the parts store to get another and solved the problem
My dad was a mopar mechanic for about 40 years and pretty much knew it 
all. I believe my 64 has one on the firewall and i have considered 
carrying a spare.
just another route to check out.
