You can check if the accelerator pump is working at all by taking the 
air cleaner off and with the engine off just look inside as you pump the 
throttle by hand. You should see some gas squirt into the carb. It might 
need more if it is squirting but you at least know if it's functioning 
at all. The pump can be replaced if bad and the amount can be changed by 
the linkage changes.
