New tanks are available for $130.00. I'd spend the extra & get a new one! www.quantaproducts.com Bob K ----- Original Message ---- From: Rich Kinsley <rlkinsley@xxxxxxxxx> To: Chat Room <1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx> Cc: Chatroom <318poly@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, March 16, 2008 8:22:01 PM Subject: Tell me about the fuel sending unit Hey guys, I'm getting near to removing my gas tank for cleanig and upgrades. It'll be about $75-$85 to get it cleaned/tested, inside coated and a drain plug installed. What I'd like to know is if I need to replace the fuel pick-up and sending unit to convert to 3/8" line? Someone told me they just adapted to 3/8" from the 5/16" with a rubber hose. There is a rubber hose off the tank anyway. How about a fuel filter there with a 5/16" in and 3/8" out? Will a fuel filter cause problems right off the tank? Will the fluid dynamics of this size difference cause any bad problems? It's working with the 5/16" now but maybe that's part of my top end laziness. I'll leave it alone if it becomes too big a can of worms. Shoot me some ideas and part numbers/sources if you have any suggestions/answers.
