Hello,
I found a 1965 8 3/4 differential for my63 SF. I have it apart for new
gaskets, seals and wheel bearings before installing itin the car.

When I disassembled it I found only foam gaskets between the axle tubes
and the brake backing plates. The only drawing I have shows that this
should be an embossed steel gasket. Should I be conderned and order the
steel gaskets or put foam gaskets back in?

I'm not doing anything with the center section except I replaced the
pinion seal. It has an open 2.94 (per the stamped plate) in it that
when I have the money I'm changing to a sure grip.

Thanks
Dennis C.
