Actually, dual point dizzy's DO produce a hotter spark. If you look closely 
,the 2 points sets do not open and close at the same time. They are slightly 
off. The 1st set opens, then the 2nd set opens, later the 1st set closes and 
finally the 2nd set closes. The time between the the 1st set opening and the 
2nd set closing is longer than a traditional single point set, allowing more 
time for the coil to build more secondary voltage

This is my understanding.( I may have everything backwards, though..)
