Re: Petty Stock Car Update

Rich,
yes... the "good old days" guess that is why we try to still hang on to them with our play toys.

Very interesting story behind that pic: It was taken by a man, 14 years old, a car nut then, and still in the photography business now, specializing in race car photos.

Hi Guys,
Been off the computer for the holidays but all is settled now. Enjoyed
catching up on the mail.

Love the shop and building talk. Yes, everybody needs a nice, BIG , warm
playroom. I love mine.

Petty Car Update: Motor and trans pulled. All chrome, interior pulled,
labeled and stored. Blasted 1000 lbs of sand on the gutted engine
compartment, body interior and undercarriage. All rusty floors cut out.
Just got car moved inside the shop and up on stands. Now the real fun
begins.

Those pictures were interesting. I remember being at the '63 Golden
State 500 at Riverside Raceway. Richard Petty was there along with a
bunch of the good old boys. I loved sitting on the corner in the snaky
bends area and watching the one front wheel pull off the ground going
around the corners. It was cool. All gone now, of course.
