Leaf Springs

Hi folks,

I have the springs out of my wife's 64 Polara 500 Ragtop and have a
question.

I want to clean and paint the spring set but need clarification.

It seems to me that I read somewhere that I should break the pack open
and clean each leaf but not paint them until they are assembled.
Something about the paint being sommewhat sticky and not letting the
leafs move inpendantly.

Have any of you broke the set apart and cleaned and painted each leaf
before reassembling them into the packs again?

I cannot remember doing this with the 64 hardtop. I think I brought the
springs to the spring people and after re-arching them they were painted
and I never thought any more about it.

What do you folks think?

What have you done?

Thanks.

K.
