If you have the time or desire for a bigger project, you should by all means take the
springs completely apart, blast, prime, and paint them your preferred satin color, black or
cast gray. Leafs that are pitted or well worn will not behave accordingly if you get them cold arced at your local truck spring/suspension shop. If you have HD springs you can change the 
galvanized interliners with 2.5 inch, 20 gauge flat stock, available from light gauge metal framing
and drywall suppliers. The replacement rubber insulators can be had from folks like The Paddock
or Year One. You can make the correct spring assembly clamps or just go for the typical
replacement style from the spring shop.
If the springs are too pitted, cracked, broken, etc, or better performance is your objective,
you can just get out the wallet and buy all new springs. The mail list web site lists some good
