Re: Trunk weatherstripping

I personally have had better luck with putting it on the strip, as when I
put it on the metal and slide the strip on, it acts as a squeegee, and wipes the
glue off and bunches it on the outside of the strip, I have also found that
masking tape is some times required to hold the strip in place untill the
glue dries, especially around bends, another tip is if the tape leaves residue
on the paint, it can easily be cleaned off with peanut butter with out
hurting the finish on the car

I am about to put new weatherstripping along the trunk of my '64 Dodge

will use the black 3M adhesive recommended, but should I put it on the metal
first, or on the weatherstrip? Or does it matter? Thanks for any help.Mike
