From my understanding and reading Early 426 WEDGE blocks were the same casting number as then current 413 blocks. 426 wedge/maxwedge were same casting many years, but not always, as with anything with Chrysler in the '60 - anything and everything is possible. Of course the Max had larger valves - therefore the need to clearance the cylinder. (I have seen two early 426 wedge blocks with the same casting numbers as the 413 blocks I have.)

P.S. (or new thread) I have read that late 426 blocks had the same casting number as early 440 blocks (or is it vice versa)

Maybe someone can help me out. I have a bet with a friend of mine, who says that a 426 bare block is different than a 426 Max Wedge block, I say they are the same block, but with different components in it..Anybody help on this....
