Re: Beverly Hillbillies drive chryslers

Yes, it's a New Yorker - can tell by the trim starting at the front, then heading along the front wheel opening, rocker panel, and rear wheel opening. Also the vertical "gills" on the rear quarter panel.

Chrysler did not sponsor the show but did provide the vehicles. The credits at the end mention automobiles provided by Chrysler Corporation.

The show first went on television in September, 1962. Thus the first shows had cars from 1962 - Mr. Drysdale's 1962 Imperial, Mr. Brewster's 1962 New Yorker, Miss Jane's 1962 Plymouth (although I think she had a Polara 500 later). Mr. Drysdale got a new Imperial every years while Miss Jane got a new Dodge - Polara 500 in 1963-64, Coronet 500 in 1965-66. Not sure what she got after that as I did not watch it after 1966.

Chrysler also supplied cars for various characters in Green Acres. Mrs. Douglas had a blue 1967 Fury III in one episode while Uncle Joe and Sam Drucker arrived at the residence of a major shareholder in the local railway in a chauffeur-driven 1967 LeBaron.

The non-Chrysler vehicles were Cousin Pearl's Oldsmobile truck and Mr. Douglas's Lincoln 4-door convertible.

A friend sent me this clip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrXf1JejXcE&feature=youtube_gdata ..
because he thought it was a '62 Newport in the clip (I think it's a New
Yorker) there's also an even better shot of a '62 Fury vert
