When Mannix first appeared he was driving a customized Olds Toronado.  The 
Mopar vehicles came a couple of years later.

Adam 12 used Mopar cars until the 1972 cars came out.  And they were all 
purchased used and painted to look like police cars.

The 1972 vehicles were police cars purchased through LAPD, from American 
Motors as they were AMC Matador sedans, and then painted to appear to be 
LAPD cruisers. The unit numbers on the cars were not in LAPD sequence and 
thus would not be confused with the real thing when on location.  The old 
Plymouths were used as background vehicles or in scenes where cars were 
totalled.

And of course Maxwell Smart with his Sunbeam (Rootes - Chrysler UK), 
followed by a VW Karmann Ghia (based on an Exner designed Chrysler show 
car).

Challenger 'vert in '70.

Mannix always drove Mopars - many performance convertables.  Once on the Mod 
Squad, Peggy Lipton was driving a '70 GTX (I remember because I had one at 
the time when I saw that re-run).  Adam 12 is another great one if you like 
B body cop cars.  One of the reasons I like watching old rerun shows is to 
see the cars - even in the background.  Ironside will throw you a Mopar bone 
once in a while.  They had a '69 Super Bee show up in the background on that 
show in several episodes one year.  It was B-5 blue with a white Bee stripe.
