Re: 63 Dodge Trans question

Neutral switch?, or are you thinking of the reverse light switch. Reverse
lights were an option so not all pushbutton shifters had them. I can't
remember seeing a 727/904 with out a neutral switch. Someone may have
installed a plug in place of the neutral switch so the fluid would not run
out and grounded the relay, but there is supposed to be a neutral switch on
the tranny. Their is most of the time a brown wire, from the starter relay
to the N/S that grounds the relay in park & neutral allowing it to crank
only in those two positions if the N/S is adjusted correctly! All that said
is if it was a automatic car from the git-go. If it started life as a
standard shift there is a new bucket of worms to look at!!

Some years or models came with the neutral safety switch mounted on the push
button shifter. I have no idea which ones, but I do have an extra push
button shifter with the switch mounted on the housing. I thought it was
strange.
