Contact the dealer he bought it from to see if they have records from 1970
still available to get the vin #, the dealer that sold my 1970 Challenger
still had the records in storage and it took them about a month to get to it
but I was able to get a copy of the transaction. Then contact the DMV to
find the history of the car. Your local police should be able to run the
vin # also with a lot less attitude! When ever I get a car I have the local
police run the vin for a history they never asked for any payment ether.

Hello, A bit off topic, but still Mopar related,

Has anyone ever gone searching for a particular car? My Grandad had an
original 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE that he bought brand new in Long Beach
CA. He sold it in the late 80s to his UPS guy (for pretty cheap I am sure)
against my strongest 10 year old boy wishes and it was gone. Being a bit
nostalgic I am thinking about trying to find that car again. Does anyone
even know the first step to go about trying to find a particular car, where
I could find the VIN, etc? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
