There are all sides to this years ago I did everytihing on my car myself what I couldn't do I traded work for I sheet rocked moved gravel and did concrete work for that guy that did my paint and body work (later it turned I did better work thatn he did.) But 2 strokes one heart attack and a pulmanory embolism later and unfortunately there is not much I can do myself anymore and also can't afford to really pay someone anymore. But you do what you can. Hi all -I agree with Cory. Some people enjoy working on their cars. Some people enjoy driving their cars. Some people enjoy both. Seems there should be room for everyone in this hobby. There was a time 45 years ago I could probably have built a big block race motor blindfolded. I don't pay someone to work on my cars because I can't do it. I pay them because working on the cars just doesn't interest me any more and because I don't have time to do things myself. But I do have the money to pay someone. Instead of working on my cars every free minute(not many of those) I'm driving them. And, trust me, nobody enjoys driving their MOPAR more than I do! So lighten up people. The hobby is about doing what you enjoy, not what someone else enjoys!Ron '63 Sport Fury 383/727--To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx From: cory_383@xxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: Future of old cars and shows. Date: Sun, 27 Jun 2010 20:10:53 -0500 Yo Bill,I agree with almost everything you said. Here's where I disagree. Some people who don't work on their own cars have valid reasons for it. I'm a person who is disabled but love old cars. Over the years, as my condition has worsened, I physically can't do nearly the things I could do even 10 years ago. Fortunately I have a buddy who loves old MOPAR more than anybody I can think of. He is a mechanic and does most of the work on my car for me. If it wasn't for him my 65 Polara wouldn't have the 440 it has today.
