Re: Hard starting

Same findings here, no additive as of yet that I have been able to find!
One other problem I have encountered is they are more susceptible to vapor
lock with todays gas also. The only thing I have found is an electric fuel
pump for starting purposes if the cranking is an issue. I just crank mine
over a few times, then pump the accelerator 3 or 4 times and they start.

Subject: Hard starting

My 63 Polara 500, 383, 4 barrel Carter AFB, has trouble starting when
it sits for several days. It always goes eventually but takes 20 or
30 seconds of cranking. A little research (see link below) suggests
that modern gas evaporates quickly and the carburetor bowl evaporates
through the bowl vent. They suggest priming the bowl through the vent
with an eye dropper. Does this make sense? Is there any kind of gas
additive that would help prevent evaporation?

As always, thanks.
